At the monthly meeting in December we elected a new board for ISSA South Texas. On the board this year is a larger contingent of new members than we have had in my time with the chapter. These new members brought with them new ideas and enough energy to put them into action. Things like changing the newsletter format, a new website design and ideas for reaching out to the general community. I would like to let you know about some of the changes you will see in the coming months.
The first change you will notice is the newsletter format. This format will be easy to read and include features that we hope you find worthwhile. One such feature will be space for messages from the executives on the operations of the chapter. Our hope is that this will foster communication about what is happening with ISSA South Texas at a deeper level than has been available in the past. We will also have space if anyone from the general membership would like to write up thoughts on IT Security related topics.
Changes are also coming to the website. Many of you have asked for this before, and now it is happening. The site will be more dynamic and interactive. The general layout is complete and the fine details are being worked on as you read this. You should see it active sometime in the next few weeks. We would like to hear your thoughts when it goes live.
We will also be reaching out to the corporate world for more involvement in our membership, monthly meetings and education opportunities. Another idea is to provide spokespeople to local news organizations for comments on current events, or speakers to schools or businesses.
On behalf of the board I hope that you find these efforts as exciting as we do. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone involved in making these changes, and those whose dedication every month make our meetings and events run smoothly. If you would like to join us in making the chapter successful we would love to have you with us.
